“The passing of a Young Adult with CF on the TV Show Grey’s Anatomy”

Last night they showed a re-run Episode featuring this Young Adult with Cystic Fibrosis.
Episode: Season 2, Episode 4
Deny, Deny, Deny

Episode Recap:

Synopsis:
Jeremiah, a cystic fibrosis patient, could benefit from Dr. Addison Shepherd's medical knowledge, but her involvement in his surgery could delay her highly anticipated departure from Seattle Grace Hospital, leaving Meredith and Derek's relationship hanging in the balance.

Full Recap:
SGH - Hospital Room - Day - Meredith and Bailey go into a room where a young man is the patient. Bailey says, "I thought I told you I never wanted to see you again." He replies, "That's only cause you're too lazy to learn anything more." Bailey introduces Meredith to the patient, Jeremiah Tate. Jeremiah was one of Bailey's first patients when she was an intern. Jeremiah says that Bailey was clueless on how to treat cystic fibrosis. Jeremiah raises around $100,000 a year for cystic fibrosis running triathlons. After reading his chart Bailey says he's finally admitting to having a little pain. She examines him and presses her hand on his torso. He looks to be in some discomfort. He also says he has been having seizures. He thinks it is his pancreatitis acting up again. Bailey says she'll be back with his results and a plan then asks him where his parents think he is now. He laughs and says New Jersey. Bailey smiles and she and Meredith leave the room.

SGH - Hallway Outside Jeremiah's Room - Day - Meredith asks, "What about his parents?" Bailey says Jeremiah does not like to bother them until he's well or he's going to be discharged. She adds, "He understands his reality he just chooses to ignore it. Denial works for him, Grey."

SGH - Radiology Viewing Rom - Day - Bailey and Meredith are looking at Jeremiah's lab results and X-rays. They note how he has a mass on his mid-epigastrium and diffused enlargement of the pancreas. He's going to need a exploratory laparotomy. Bailey is hesitant because of the state of his lungs, despite running triathlons. Meredith asks what they're going to do. Bailey doesn't know. Addison comes into the room and calls Jeremiah a survivor. Bailey says he's been her patient for five years and refuses to lose him now. Addison says she'll be able to help because she's seen a case like this in a nine year old. Bailey is glad to accept the help, while Meredith isn't too happy about it. She says, "You're a neo-natal specialist. This isn't your area." Bailey shakes her head trying to get Meredith to stop talking. Addison says she did two years of cystic fibrosis genetic research and has seen it all. Meredith says, "Oh."

SGH - Jeremiah Tate's Room - Day - Addison, Meredith, and Bailey are with Jeremiah. Addison tells him when they operate she might have to remove his pancreas and re-route his intestine. Jeremiah asks if Bailey told them his lungs do not do well with anaesthesia. Bailey says, "Don't I always have your back?" Addison tells him if they don't operate he might have multi-system organ failure. Bailey says it's going to be a long hard surgery and his body will go through a lot of stress. He says, "Yeah, but I'm me." Bailey smiles and says, "But you're you." He asks if he doesn't have the operation he is going to die and if they do operate he has a chance of dying. Addison says yes. Jeremiah says, "Well, I like those odds." Jeremiah remains optimistic, that he has lived with his disease for 26 years; if he gets lucky, great. He holds Bailey's hand. And if he does not get lucky, "It's been sweet." Bailey says, "It's gonna stay sweet."

SGH - Bailey/Addison's O.R. - Night - Addison, Bailey, and Meredith are operating on Jeremiah. His body seems to be shutting down. His heart rhythm is becoming erratic. Bailey starts CPR. Addison reminds her they are not to take extraordinary measures. Bailey says she's only doing good medicine and starts to do heart compressions.

SGH - Bailey/Addison's O.R. - Night - Bailey is continuing her compressions on Jeremiah. Meredith offers to take over because Bailey appears to be getting tired. Meredith begins compressions with no improvement to Jeremiah. Bailey pushes Meredith out of the way and begins compressions again. Everyone stops moving. Bailey keeps going and asks why everyone has stopped. Several seconds pass and Jeremiah flat lines. Bailey stops moving, calls his time of death, and leaves the O.R.

SGH - Second Floor Hallway Overlooking Main Lobby/Station - Night - Bailey is making a phone call on her cell phone. It is Jeremiah's mother. Her voice is quivering. She tells his mother that she's very sorry implying that he passed away.

Scottie's feelings about what He watched last night:

Wow, this was surreal to watch after this past Hospital visit and surgery previous to the CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland this past Oct. 18th (Thank God I had something I needed to do that I couldn't miss...wink wink). Some of You may recall some of the similar decisions I had to make regarding going through with surgery and the "possible" complications that could arise and concerns with going under anaesthesia and coming out of the surgery Alive due to My bad/decreased lung function... There were many similarities between the character Jeremiah and Myself... I felt His Calm, Love for Life and His Gratitude for the Days that He's Lived... Also, I couldn't help but think that there's a misunderstanding of the word "Denial" in this/His situation... Is it bad to want to live as normal a life and not involve Loved One's as much as possible in the attempts of wanting to be privately Strong and Deal with the difficult issues at hand, and the Hospital stays that go with it? Wanting to be "Normal" and "Strong"?

I will open up to All of You and tell You that I've had the Doctors tell Me that I've been in denial before as well, in the past... My answer to their words & opinions were that "I'm not in denial, I just choose to not involve Everyone in My sick days; I don't want Family and Friends to see Me in bed and have those visions of Me. I'd rather just see Everybody when I get out... People have Lives and they don't need to be going out of their way to come see Me laying sick in bed in the Hospital." That's the way I feel in My Heart, and I'm sure (obviously) I'm not alone in feeling this way... I do understand (through trial & error) that I need to involve My Family and Close Friends in times of surgery's or anytime the situation is a bit more serious (I've learned the hard way) Sorry Mom (She's made Me promise I won't do that anymore)...Oops!!! hehe ;-)
My Whole Life I've tried to be as normal as possible and it's worked for Me; Living The Dream is an extension of All of those feelings... :LTD)( was not even a blip on the radar screen until I turned 40... At the ripe age of 40, I then reflected back and thought to Myself: "Wow, what a Blessed Life I've been able to Live; I need to share this Beautiful "Secret" Way of Life with others that are afflicted in their Lives too." I Lived 40 Years for Scottie; the Rest of My Life, I'm Living The Dream and Sharing the "Gold Key" with Anyone and Everyone that wants to go the distance with Me... "Let's Do This!" :-)

Thank You :LTD)( Family for walking the road of "Enjoying Every Moment of Every Day" together... I'm not promising Myself or Anyone Else Any Extra Days, just "SPECIAL MOMENTS" in the remaining Days of Our Lives...xo
The word Deny & Denial are sometimes used unwisely... I believe the Character with CF portrayed in this Episode "Deny, Deny, Deny", was unfairly misunderstood... I Believe He Lived a Full Life the Best that He could and touched Many Lives; I Believe He was Living The Dream... I Believe this "Character" and portrayal must have been written emulated from a "Real-Life Person/Situation" that occurred... Bless this Young Man and His Family for Living The Dream and Raising So Much Money and Awareness for those that followed Him, that they could Hopefully Live a Better Life too!!! :-)

We Are Living The Dream!!!

I Love and Respect All of You So Much...xo

On November 24th 2009, CHOC & Living The Dream gave 30 Lucky :LTD)( Family Members tickets to see KISS and BUCKCHERRY at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.

As they celebrate 35 years of rockin’, KISS made the Honda Center a stop on its KISS ALIVE 35 North American tour. "2nd Annual :LTD)( CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland"

Below written by: J'Net Nguyen

Hurley’s LIVING T)(E DREAM Team participated in Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s 19th annual fundraiser CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland on Oct. 18th. With an astounding 70+ walkers and over four thousand dollars raised, the :LTD)( Team, proudly sporting their official LIVING T)(E DREAM logo tee, was easily one of the most recognizable groups in a crowd of 12,000. This was :LTD)(‘s 2nd year walking for our CHOC children.

This year Hurley and LIVING T)(E DREAM were gold sponsors. In addition to providing 15,000 event shirts, they made a profound impact in helping ensure children, regardless of their family’s ability to pay, get world class medical care by helping CHOC raise a total of 1.5 million dollars.

"Warped Tour with the Twins Lizzi and Alec"

Alec and Lizzi are Twins that were both born with Cystic Fibrosis. Their Warped Tour story was a Fun one for not only Living The Dream, but for the Girls and their Mom. Shortly after Lizzi wrote in and won this Living The Dream Day at Warped 09, She also got notice from Warped tour from another submission that she applied for, that her request was excepted to travel with, follow the Warped Tour and make her documentary about the Tour for her school project. This was a Very Exciting Summer for these two Girls!! About midway through the tour, I found out that they were eating raviolis and spaghettios only, so I put a stop to that and offered to pay for their meals with catering for the rest of the tour; eating well is a very important tool in staying healthy and Living The Dream… All that being said, when the Twins day arrived, the Girls still wanted their Dream Day with :LTD)(, and so we gave it to them and had a Blast!! :-) I’m So Happy we got to meet these two Beautiful Girls and be a little part of their Super Fun Summer…

"Liz at the Blink 182 Friends & Family Only show"

Liz flew to CA from PA for the Friends & Family Only Blink 182 show...

Below written by Kacie:LTD)(

It’s one thing to make someone’s day. It’s another thing to make someone’s week, month, or even year. And on rare occasions, you get the opportunity to make someone’s life. When Scottie received a phone call that he could bring a Living The Dream child to a private Friends & Family Only Blink 182 Show at the Forum in Los Angeles, he knew this was an opportunity to make someone’s life. The first person who came to his mind was Liz. She’s 20 years old and has Cystic Fibrosis. Liz prides herself on being Blink 182’s biggest fan. She has an entire wall covered in her room from top to bottom with dozens of pictures and magazine articles about the band. She owns every CD and knows every song. He called her to share the good news and she could hardly believe what he was saying. That same night she booked a plane ticket to come out to California for the concert. She said that flying from her home state Pennsylvania to California was the longest plane ride of her life; she knew she was about to have her dream come true. I attended the concert with Scottie and Liz and I had never seen anyone’s face glow like hers. Our hearts smiled when she looked at us and said, “This was the best night of my life.” That evening, Living The Dream was able to make someone’s life. To be able to experience that special moment with her made my life too. It was a night we will both remember for the rest of our lives… That night we were Living The Dream!

Hey Scottie!
Dude... today was sick! Thank you so much for hooking all of that up. It was seriously a lifetime experience today. I've been to some pretty gnarly concerts, but today was hands down the craziest and most fun out of them all. Getting to meet the band members, chill backstage and hang with you was so awesome! Also thanks for hooking Sam up too. She had a blast!
Thanks for all you do bro!
Love Always,

Patrick has been a Special Friend and part of the :LTD)( Family for 2 years now. Patrick was ran over by a car and paralyzed when he was about a year and a half old; he's a Warrior in Life that has made the most out of his disabling situation… Patrick is an Ambassador for our friends the Life Rolls On Foundation and helps others whenever he can; that's Awesome…
Patrick was joined by His Loving Sister Sam for this Fun Day at the Warped Tour; We had a Blast together and laughed all day… It’s an Honor for Me to call Patrick Brother and Sam Sister. I’m Inspired and taught new things every time I’m around Patrick. I learned that I can’t leave him unattended in the restroom for too long… After Patrick was done doing his business, he physically couldn’t get out of the restroom when He was done! He had to call my cell phone for HELP...haha...Oops...Sorry Buddy!!!! Now I know, lesson learned... :-)

"Kalie and Scottie United to Help Others"

This is a Loving Story that goes back many years before Kalie was born...
Donald Martin (Marty) Garness and Scottie Somers had grown up together from childhood on thru High School and beyond. As Children, Marty knew that Scottie was a little different and was living his life with the terminal disease Cystic Fibrosis. Scottie had CF, but didn't ever act as if he had any disease at all to those around him. It was for this reason that when Marty and Karen (Kalie's Mother) found out they were going to have a Baby Girl, they wanted to name her after their good friend Scottie in Honoring His Life. Scottie actually has had 2 Children named after him, the other is Hunter Scott Gibson, Son of Eric and Courtney Gibson. These 2 Gifts of Love have been Priceless Presents that have left Scottie speechless; He's Very Honored to share names with both Kalie and Hunter. Later, shortly after Kalie's birth, Marty unfortunately was diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Marty had fought this ruthless disease for several years, sometimes seeming as if he was beating it, but in the end, it took His Life...
Many years later after Kalie has grown up, Kalie recently came to Scottie at the Hurley US Open of Surfing Event, to Unite from there on out to help others in Loving Memory of her Daddy, Donald Martin Garness. Scottie has lost a lot of good friends during his journey, Marty being one of them. Scottie carry’s Marty and all the rest of his deceased Loved Ones at the forefront of his being in his journey’s to help terminal Children continue Living The Dream every day regardless of their current conditions.
It was an Amazing Gift of Love after all these years that Kalie came to Scottie saying this, "I wanted to let you know that I think what you're doing with :LTD)( and everything, is amazing. If you ever have any volunteer work I can help with, anything at all, I would love to get involved."
Thank You for being selfless Kalie…

"Warped Tour Date with the Bookers---Meet Kaiya"

Below written by Kacie:

This weekend was one of the most magical weekends in my life. I got the opportunity to take the Booker’s, one of Living The Dreams favorite families, out for a full day of rock star treatment. Their day included meeting all their favorite bands, going backstage, going onstage, and walking out with bags and bags of Warped Tour merch donated by all the great people working on the tour. Although they insisted that Living The Dream and Warped Tour gave them a day they will remember for the rest of their lives, little did they know that THEY had changed all of our lives as well. It wasn’t long before Kaiya’s big blue eyes won over the crowd. In just the short time we were all able to spend together, Sarah (4Fini) said, today the Booker’s family just got a lot bigger. Special Ops Joe said Kaiya had changed his life. Special Ops Lauren and Michael are already counting the days to Warped Tour Utah next year when they get to see Kaiya again. An overwhelming sense of love surrounded each and every person in such a way words cannot describe. All of us wished we could make that day last forever. When it came time to say goodbye, tears filled the eyes of each and every person Kaiya had met. All of us had been so inspired by this tiny angel who always had a smile on her face, who laughed all day, and who handed out an endless supply of hugs and kisses to everyone she met. Kaiya taught us all what it’s like to truly be Living The Dream, and for that, we are forever grateful. Thank you Kaiya for shining your beautiful spirit into our lives and lighting up our hearts. I love you K-bug.

~Kacie

This was a Dream Day that :LTD)( was looking forward to All Warped Tour Long… Kaiya aka K-Bug has been in the Living The Dream Family for about 2 years now… The moment I came into Her website, I instantly fell in Love with K-Bug, Shalee and Dustin Booker; they’ve been Family ever-since… We were Excited to Surprise them with a Fun Living The Dream Day at the Warped Tour in UT… Kaiya Loves music, She listens and helps Her Daddy play His guitar (So Cute!)…
If you want to Enrich Your Life, You’ll definitely want to invite the Booker's into it; I did, and it’s been up-hill ever since… The Booker's have a saying “No Bad Days!” That’s a pretty good saying if you ask me… :-)

Below written by Natalie:

August 1st was without a doubt, one of the best days of my entire life. I couldn't believe all the things I was able to do, such as going onstage, backstage, eating with the bands, and so much more. The best band I saw from onstage was probably A Day to Remember, they really know how to put on a show. Meeting Forever the Sickest Kids was a moment I'll remember forever; I couldn't stop smiling after that. Scottie is the most inspirational person I've ever met. I can't believe all that Scottie has accomplished throughout his life. One day I hope to start a foundation similar to his to help others. If I could relive that day over and over, I'd definitely do it. (:

"Warped Tour Dream Day with Beth"

Below written by Beth:

My day was truly memorable and incredible from start to finish and, afterward, I literally felt as if I was in a dream. Running from one favorite band to the next all day and getting the best views from on stage at Underoath, A Day to Remember, Senses Fail, The Devil Wears Prada, Forever the Sickest Kids, 3OH!3, and the Maine made the day that much more of an unforgettable experience. Being in the sound booth during the Gallows, which was circled by the circle pit, was amazing and they definitely put on an insane and high energy performance to remember! The food was incredible, and meeting and seeing all the bands during lunch and by the buses was fun as well. The day definitely ended on a high note when we hung around under the tent with Scottie Somers, Kacie, Kevin Lyman, Sarah from productions, and Brandon from the Architects. Talking to Brandon (Brandon has crohn's disease too) was definitely a great experience, and I hope to keep in contact with all the incredibly generous and cool people I met that day.
Keep up the great work Scottie!
Love,
Beth

Beth Lives with Crohn's Disease, but refuses to let it hinder Her Dreams of being a Journalist and Her Love for Photography... It was a Pleasure to get to spend the Day with Beth and watch Her Smile All Day Long...

When I received the email from Scottie Somers that I won my Living The Dream Warped Tour day, I screamed with excitement! Neither my sister Taylor nor I had been to the Warped Tour before, so we were excited and didn’t know what to expect. When we got there we got to park with all the bands buses backstage and skip over all the crowds. We each got an all access pass allowing us to go anywhere we wanted to. We were able to see all our favorite bands like Anti-Flag , 3OH!3, Streetlight Manifesto, Rocket to the Moon, etc. from on stage! Not only that, but we got to meet my favorite singer Jeffree Star and my friends favorite band Underoath! Throughout the whole day we learned a lot about the Living The Dream foundation and what they’re doing for all the kids. It was such an amazing day and we will never forget it . Thank you so much for yesterday! That was honestly one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life and I am so happy I got the opportunity to do it. Like you said it would be, I did meet a ton of amazing people who helped me out throughout the day and made things like keeping hydrated and eating really easy for me! People like Kevin, Lauren, Sarah and Tiffany as well as others who came on and off Kevin's bus. I also got to see all the bands I wanted to see from the stage which was pretty cool because I thought I could only choose one or two bands...but I ended up seeing like 5 or so bands which was awesome! Also, I got to meet some band members like Chris from Less Than Jake, Buddy from Senses Fail and Craig from Chiodos and others too!

Lauren was a HUGE help in letting me do the things my friend and I wanted to do and she was honestly such a great fun person to be around too! At the end of the day Kevin actually invited me back next year which made me feel so welcomed and liked by everyone I met. I cannot tell you how that made me feel because Warped is the event of the summer that I always look forward to. Hopefully Lauren will be there next year too, that way we can hangout again because like you said, she is truly amazing at what she does for the Living The Dream kids like me on Warped! Also, hopefully I was thinking it would be cooler if you could maybe come to Atlanta next year so you, Lauren, Kevin, the rest of the crew and I can all hangout.

So Thank You So Much for giving me this incredible opportunity Scottie, I’m Living The Dream, and I hope to stay in touch,
Justin Bentley

"Warped Tour Date with Morgan"

Below was written by Julie (Morgan's Mommy):

Hello Scottie,
Thank you again for everything that you did for my little girl. She truly touches everyone’s heart that she meets. I tagged her on myspace with the Living the Dream page. It still touches my heart to see the pics of her and Will (Aiden). I have never seen him smile and have love in his face like when he was hugging Morgan, same with Angel, Nick and Jake. They all loved her and enjoyed spending time with her. Due to a fading economy this wouldn't have been possible without all of your help. Morgan's desire to fight and continue to learn even when the cards are stacked against her is truly an inspiring motivator for all that know her and love her.

I truly do not have a clue how I can ever repay you for this experience....and for putting a smile on my little girl's face.

Juli Wanamaker

I was Excited to meet Morgan in NY because I have never met anyone with Autism before… Needless to say, I was Inspired and Totally Enriched by this Beautiful Little Baby Girl…

Morgan is 5 yrs old and was accompanied by Her Mommy Julie and a Saint of a friend Casey to the Warped Tour. I was told in the morning that Morgan does not take to Men at all and to not take it personal… I talked a lot to Casey and Julie and learned a lot about Autism. I was also turned on to a band I’ve never seen before called Aiden; Julie, Casey and believe it or not , Morgan, All LOVE this Band and its Members… The Guys of Aiden were so nice to the Girls and put big smiles on their faces…
What a Beautiful Little Angel Morgan is…
Oh by the way, Morgan was hugging, kissing and holding my hand by the end of the day; I Believe in Miracles…
Check out the pic in the bottom R corner; do You think She had a Good Day? :-)
Love, Hugs & Kisses Always...

Manda was a Gift from God…

I was in PA spending the day with Liz. The day was coming to an end as we came off the stage after watching Senses Fail. Liz and I were walking back towards the :LTD)( tent when we saw 3 EMT’s working on a hurt young Girl. They were applying ice to Her face and I noticed that this Girl really needed water more than anything; I got Her some water. She got Her face smashed up against the bar at the front of the stage and had a big monkey ball under Her eye. Manda was So Upset that She had been waiting for a couple of bands to watch Her favorite band A DAY TO REMEMBER and now that She was hurt, she has lost her place at the front of the stage… There was No Way that I was not going to do something to help Manda as I looked at this Pretty Girls eyes and saw Her heart so sad…
So guess who got to go onstage to see Her favorite band… :-)
Love You Angel…
You’re So Sweet…
Ps. This pic was funny as I was turning Manda's face to the side so Not to show the monkey ball under Her eye; We did good huh Manda... ;-)

"Warped Tour Date with Liz"

Below written by Liz to Bob Hurley:

Dear Mr. Hurley-

I wanted to take a minute to tell you about my amazing day at warped tour and to thank everyone for everything that they did for me throughout the day. My name is Liz. I'm 20 years old and I have Cystic Fibrosis. I met Scottie Somers 5 years ago through my cousin. I was so excited to meet him, especially knowing that he was then 37 years old and had Cystic Fibrosis like me. When I met him, he took me to Warped Tour in Fullerton, California in the summer of 2004. It was an amazing day. I was the very first person Scottie had ever taken to Warped Tour!

A few weeks ago Scottie asked me if I'd like to join him again for Warped Tour, but this time in Pennsylvania where I live. I of course said yes, and was excited all week! When I got there, I met up with Scottie and Kacie. Scottie introduced me to everyone. I first met Lauren, she gave me my wristband and made sure I had enough water throughout the day. She even put together a bag of really awesome merch for me! She was so nice. I loved her! After I got my wristband, we went to eat lunch. We ate with a few guys from ASkyLitDrive. The food was really good. A lot of it was vegan and that was perfect since I don't eat meat. After lunch it was time to see the first band. It was Saosin and I was VERY excited. They are one of my favorite bands. Scottie was able to get me up on stage and I got to watch their whole performance from up there. It was AMAZING!!!! After Saosin, I got to see a lot of other great bands that I have never listened to before. Scottie had me watch the Gallows. I'm so excited that he had me watch them because they were so good. The lead singer was crazy!

Another one of my favorite bands performing was UnderOath. Before they went on I met their drummer Aaron Gillespie and their keyboardist Chris Dudley. They were both super nice to me! I even got to keep one of Aaron's drumsticks. Their performance was awesome. I got to stand behind Aaron the whole time. They definitely put on a rad show. After UnderOath, I also got to see Senses Fail, another one of my favorites, and A Day to Remember. Those guys were so good! So not only did I get to see my favorite bands, I also got to hear some other bands that I now love.

After dinner we went back to the Hurley Living The Dream tent and just hung out. I got to meet Kate. She was such a sweetheart to me. She asked me if there was anyone I didn't get to meet that I really wanted to see. I of course said Saosin! She then told me that Saosin would be down to the tent in a little bit to see me. I was so excited! A little bit later Justin and Cove from Saosin got there and hung out with me. They were the nicest guys I have ever met. Cove told me some really funny stores and made me laugh so much! Before they left they took some pictures with me, and Justin even gave me one of his bracelets. It was honestly the highlight of my day! I also got to meet Sarah. She hung out at the tent with us too. She was fun! She also made sure I had everything I needed.

The main reason I'm writing this letter is to take the time to thank you and everybody involved with Hurley and Warped Tour. You have made me and so many other children happy. Everything you all do is such an amazing thing and I can't thank you enough. Scottie Somers, Kacie, Lauren, Kate, Kevin Lyman, Sarah and everybody else I met are all amazing people. I haven't even met you, but I know you are an amazing person as well for all that you do. Scottie is such an inspiration to me, and he gives me so much hope for my future living with Cystic Fibrosis. I no longer wake up scared not knowing how I'll feel that day. I now wake up so happy to be alive and know that life is a beautiful thing and just living is the best gift of all. It's not how long you live, it's how you spend the time while you are still here. Please pass along my Thank You's to everyone involved with Hurley, Living The Dream, and Warped Tour. You all have beautiful hearts and you have all made me realize that I am Living The Dream.

Love,
Liz

OMG!!! I CAN'T EVEN TELL ALL OF YOU HOW SPECIAL THIS DAY WAS FOR ME; I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING LIZ AGAIN...
I think about how far I've come along since the day She taught Me how to make a heart on myspace...
I Love You Liz... You'll Never know just how TRULY SPECIAL You Are to Me...

"Warped Tour Date with Natalie"

Below written by Natalie:

The excitement of finding out I had won a "Fun Day at Warped Tour", with my friend Almendra wasn't nearly as exciting as the actual experience of being on stage with my Favorite bands like; A Rocket To the Moon and The Maine. Just from the First time of meeting Scottie, I knew that my day was going to be a phenomenal day because his energy went through the roof and beyond. The fact that I even got the opportunity to Meet the bands that have inspired me to just get up and go through these difficult times...as well as bands Scottie introduced us to like, A Skylit Drive, was such an unforgettable experience that words can't even describe. I don’t think I’ll ever forget sitting under the LTD tent, listening to Scotties inspirational and motivational stories that will forever stay in our hearts. I will forever be in debt to Scottie and the LTD Hurley Family for being so selfless and genuinely cordial…STAY RAD!
Love Nats

"Warped Tour Date with Liliana"

Hey Scottie! Today was so amazing after we got Liliana past her overheating incident. Kevin helped us pile a bunch of the bands on the bus that she wanted to meet. At one point we had Aaron from Underoath, and the entire Skylight Drive and Anti Flag crew on to meet her. She was super excited the whole day and was such a trooper! She’s totally a girl after my own heart, loves music and LOVES to eat! We made it to see A Skylight Drive, Breathe Carolina, Anti Flag, and Chiodos. Anti Flag also set her up with a bunch of free merch along with everything Michael gathered for us. It was a super full day and she was really excited to head to the Denny’s all nighter where all the bands are hanging out tonight.

"Hurley Store 225 Forest Grand Opening"

Tonight, July 2nd, 2009 was a Very Fun Rewarding night to say the least!!

Hurley, Nike 6.0 & Converse all collectively opened a Sick New Store in Laguna that exceeded my expectations for sure. I've been with Hurley for a lot of years, and I've seen a lot of cool stuff put on by this Amazing Company, so I'm not easily impressed... I went to Laguna with the feelings of a proud Dad, Super Excited for this Event... This Store is RAD!!! I walked away with a pair of New board shorts that I personally made on the premises and a pair of Nike shoes that Kacie and I made together... Within this Stores walls, you can make your own clothes and shoes, or pick from the many cool variety of styles that are represented on the floor. I'm Very Proud of Bob Hurley, Roger Wyett & Team for all the hard work that I know went into making this Store a Reality... Thank You for the Awesome Shopping Experience!!!

Love and Respect Always...

"Warped Tour Date with Haley"

Hurley's Living The Dream was excited to have Haley R. join us at the Vans Warped Tour in Las Cruces, New Mexico last Wednesday July 1st. Haley's been Living with Leukemia and obviously has not let this disease over run her or rule her life. Haley received VIP treatment, meeting bands such as Escape the Fate, Millionaires, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and Aiden. Haley also was able to watch all her favorite bands perform from backstage. NOFX, 3OH!3, Lights, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Maine were among her top choices, and all put on unforgettable shows. After a long, exciting day, Haley was able to hang out with the awesome Warped Tour staff that help make the shows happen all summer long. Kevin Lyman, the founder of Vans Warped Tour even offered to have Haley back as his special guest next year! Thanks to all the bands, crew, and people who made this day extraordinary. Haley was definitely Living The Dream on her Special Day!
